Happy December Friends! I still can't get over that it is already December. How is 2015 almost over?!
Once the weather gets colder, I crave all things citrus. This time of year I am always stocking up limes, lemons, and my favorite blood oranges when they are in season. Lately I just can't get enough oranges. I am craving all the things with oranges, a fruit that I usually don't really care for too much but lately I just can't get enough. Oranges are a perfect fruit to eat during this time of year because they are packed with vitamin c which can help build your immunity and protect you during flu season.
My favorite vehicle for using the fresh orange juice is in an agua fresca: a traditional Mexican fruit and water beverage. The key to any good agua fresca is to use fresh in season fruit. The citrus fruits are finally making their way to the local grocery stores and I couldn't be more thrilled. Freshly squeezed juice is the only way to go when making agua frescas.
A light, refreshing drink that will definitely brighten up your morning. Only a little bit of sugar is needed. The sugar doesn't make this drink sweet at all; the sugar helps bring out the natural flavors of the orange and lime.

- 4 Cups Water
- ¼ Cup Sugar
- 3 Cups Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
- ¼ Cup Fresh Lime Juice
- In a large pitcher, add the water. Add the sugar, stirring until the sugar has dissolved into the water.
- Pour in the freshly squeezed orange juice and lime juice. Stir the mixture.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve in glasses with ice.
