Creamy Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes couldn't be any easier to make. Simply add all the ingredients to the slow cooker do all the work!
When the weather starts to get colder, I love making mashed potatoes. Perfect comfort food on a cold night.
Using the slow cooker to make your mashed potatoes is definitely a quick and easy way to cook your mashed potatoes during family holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you've never tried making mashed potatoes in the slow cooker, you are in for a treat! As the potatoes cook in the slow cooker, they become tender and make the creamiest mashed potatoes.
How to make mashed potatoes in the slow cooker
It couldn't be an easier to make mashed potatoes in your slow cooker. The most time consuming part is peeling the potatoes. I like to use Yukon gold potatoes. I feel that yellow potatoes create ultra creamy mashed potatoes.
After you have peeled and quartered the potatoes, add them to the slow cooker.
Next, add in some water and refined coconut oil or vegan butter.
After the potatoes are done cooking, it's time to mash the potatoes. Pour in the warm non-dairy milk, salt and pepper. I like to use my hand mixer to mash the potatoes right in the slow cooker.
That's it! The mashed potatoes are now ready to serve!
If you've never tried making mashed potatoes in the slow cooker before, I highly recommend giving it a try!
Creamy Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes
The slow cooker creates creamy mashed potatoes that are a perfect side dish to any holiday meal. Coconut Oil makes the potatoes a little healthier and non-dairy milk keeps the mashed potatoes vegan friendly!
Ingredients
- 3 pounds yukon gold potatoes, peeled & quartered
- 3 tablespoons refined coconut oil or Vegan Butter
- ¾ cup water
- ½-3/4 cup warmed non-dairy milk {unsweetened almond is my favorite}
- ½ teaspoon -1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- Black Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Add the water to the slow cooker. Add in the peeled and quartered potatoes & coconut oil or vegan butter. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6 hours. I like to check the potatoes when there is about 1 hour left of cooking & give them a stir.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, add in the warmed non-dairy milk and salt. Start with about ¼ cup and add in more milk as you mix.
- Mix until creamy. I try not to have the mixer reach the bottom of the slow cooker, just incase it might scratch. If you care worried about scratches, just transfer to a bowl and then mash. Adjust seasons & enjoy!
